A new publication from CERN apparently features 5154 Authors! Well it was the only part of the paper I understood AND they forgot my name,but all I did was clean the coffee machine.

Pity the poor post-doc who has to provide this on his CV or has to thank all his co-workers after a presentation.

Chemistry must have collaborations like this, imagine >5000 post-Docs/graduate students  all working on bits of a synthetic challenge.

I hope the bunch at CERN didn’t forget anyone else.

Here’s another one, in this week’s Nature. Didn’t count the authors this time, but the coffee machine cleaner is still not listed.
