I suppose it had to be, the Chinese have isolated a compound they call dragonbloodin! It’s an amazingly simple compound:
I won’t go into the details, but it looks correct! ChemDraw seems unable to give this compound a name, I suppose …..-dragon….. is not an IUPAC convention. In fact ChemDraw does not like this compound at all. Just look at what “clean up structure” does:
So that bottle of red stuff in my lab did have something in it.
Imagine your presentation “The Total Synthesis of Dragonsblood”. Or go to your local doctor and ask for a few pills of dragonsblood, it appears to be an anti-inflammatory.
